Illustration coming soonThe Seam in the Sock
Miri puts on her socks. One feels smooth. The other presses against her toes.
She pulls the sock off. She puts it on again. The little bump stays. "This one feels wrong," says Miri.
Mommy sits beside her. "Show me where." Miri touches the end of the sock. "Right here. It pushes when I walk."
Mommy looks inside. A seam runs across the toes. "The seam is under your foot. We can turn the sock a little."
Miri turns it. She takes three steps. "Better. But I can still feel it." "Would you like to try the other pair?" asks Mommy.
The other socks have a softer seam. Miri puts them on. She wiggles her toes. Then she walks to the door.
"These are the ones I want today," she says. Mommy puts the first pair in the drawer.
Miri puts on her shoes. "I could not see the bump from outside," says Mommy. "You helped me find it." Miri walks to the door.
