The Word Beneath the Bridge
Ages 6-9
On the family walk, Reizy holds Mommy's hand across the footbridge. Wind lifts the edge of her sleeve.
"This is my favorite part," she says.
At home, Reizy and Pesi draw pictures of the walk.
Reizy draws the bridge with three posts on each side. She adds little lines for the wind.
Pesi draws water falling over a rock.
"The waterfall was my favorite," Pesi says.
"Mine too," says Reizy.
Beneath her bridge, she writes waterfall.
Pesi adds a splash beside her rock.
Reizy looks at the little wind lines. She touches her sleeve.
Her eraser rubs out waterfall. A gray patch remains beneath the bridge.
"I liked the bridge best," she says.
Pesi keeps drawing her splash.
Reizy writes bridge across the gray patch, beneath the six posts.
