The Two Holes in the Star

Ages 9-12

Noam yanks the handle of his desk drawer.

The drawer slides halfway out and stops with a short clack.

Inside, a paper star lies flat. He can see its top point and one punched hole.

Noam keeps his hand on the handle. He brings his other hand to the drawer's front and lifts it a little.

He eases the drawer toward him.

It moves an inch farther.

His fingers close on the handle again. He opens them.

Noam holds the front there. The star shows two punched holes.
