The Three Flowers

Ages 12-15

Raizel carries three paper flowers through the school gate.

Two have blue petals. The third is yellow.

Her close friend walks beside the new girl. Raizel stays on her friend's other side.

They are bringing the flowers to a classmate who misses school that day. Raizel plans the walk with her friend. At the gate, the new girl asks to come, too.

Now Raizel holds the yellow flower by its stem. It presses against the two blue ones.

Her friend turns toward the new girl. They walk a few steps together.

Raizel holds out the yellow flower. Her friend takes its stem beside the new girl.

Her friend walks beside the new girl with the yellow flower. Raizel joins them carrying the two blue ones.

At their classmate's house, they sit beside the little table.

Raizel lays down the two blue flowers. Her friend places the yellow one beside them. Three flowers rest side by side on the little table.
