The Single Line

Ages 12-15

On the class jobs list, SORT FABRIC SCRAPS has two name lines. WATER PLANTS has one.

A small watering can stands on the shelf beneath the list.

Yael puts a finger beside the single line. Her pencil rests in her other hand.

Rochie writes her name on the first line beneath SORT FABRIC SCRAPS. She sets her pencil down.

Yael brings her pencil toward the second line. The point stops just above it.

Rochie picks up a basket of fabric scraps from the shelf and carries it to the worktable.

Yael's pencil moves back to the single line.

She writes her name beneath WATER PLANTS.

She takes the can and carries it past the worktable toward the sink.

Rochie looks up from the scraps, then back down.

At the list, another girl writes her name beneath Rochie's. The two fabric lines are filled.
