The Ready Line
Ages 6-9
Eliyahu calls "Go!" before his friend finishes putting down the last race marker.
Eliyahu runs around the first chalk circle. By the time his friend stands, he is nearly at the second.
He reaches the end first.
His friend stays beside the starting mark.
"I wasn't ready."
Eliyahu points to the end.
"I got there."
His friend picks up the last marker. Its folded corner sticks into the path.
Eliyahu looks back at the three circles.
Eliyahu walks back to the starting mark.
He takes the marker and sets it outside the path, corner facing away.
His friend stands beside him.
Eliyahu keeps both shoes behind the line.
"Ready?"
His friend nods.
They begin together. At the second circle, his friend reaches the outside edge first.
Eliyahu goes around it. At the end, his friend is ahead by one step.
Behind them, the last marker stands outside the path with its bent corner facing the grass.
