The Pour Before the Last Sentence

Ages 12-15

A dry ring marks the washable windowsill. Beside it stands a small pot with a bean plant and a hole in its base.

Talia holds a small watering can.

"Put the pot here, then pour a little at a time."

Maayan sets the pot on the ring. Talia passes her the can.

Maayan holds it level with both hands. She brings the spout over the soil.

Talia points to the pot.

"First you put the pot on this mark. Then you bring the can over and pour slowly, a little at a time."

Maayan waits with the spout above the soil.

Talia starts again. "First, the pot goes-"

Talia's pointing hand comes down to her side.

Maayan tips the can. A small stream falls onto the soil. She brings the can level again.

A drop slips through the hole in the pot's base. The dry ring darkens beneath it.
