The Middle Cow

Ages 6-9

Refael and his friend make one long row of little toy animals.

Refael's cow comes first. His friend puts a horse beside it.

Refael moves the horse behind the cow.

His friend puts it back.

"It's taller."

Refael looks at the cow.

He takes a second cow from the basket. This one is smaller than the horse and smaller than the first cow.

His friend puts a little sheep beside it.

Refael sets the smallest animal at one end. He moves the horse to the other end.

Between them, he puts his first cow.

His friend brings over two more animals. Together they fit them into the spaces between the others.

Refael's cow stands halfway along the row, between the sheep and the horse.
