The Lost Place

Ages 12-15

Rachely holds her paper game token, one corner bent, beside the little board.

The organizer moves two pieces to the other side. The game changes direction.

A girl beside Rachely takes her turn.

Rachely puts her token down at the board's edge. The next girl reaches over it and moves her own piece.

Rachely pulls hers back.

The organizer is collecting the finished cards. Rachely brings the token over and places it beside those cards.

"Where does my turn go now?"

The organizer points to the board's far side.

"After those two."

Rachely looks at the token, then picks it up.

She goes to the far side. The first child makes her move. The second follows.

The organizer slides a fresh card toward her.

Rachely sets her token beside it.

She reads the card and makes one move. Her token reaches the painted square with its bent corner flat against the board.
