The Horse's Drink
Ages 6-9
Amitai's friend wants the pretend horse to gallop all the way around the rug.
Amitai moves it past the first fence. A little paper water trough sits beside that fence.
"Faster!"
He moves it faster. At the next fence, its paper leg catches.
Amitai lifts it clear.
His friend taps the last corner.
"Keep going."
Amitai puts the horse beside the fence.
"I want it to stop here for a drink."
His friend points around the rug.
"It's a race."
Amitai picks up the trough. He sets it inside the fence, away from the race path.
"Mine can finish after."
His friend runs a second horse around the rug.
Amitai rests his horse's nose above the trough. Then he returns it to the path and finishes the lap.
His friend's horse is already at the end. Amitai's arrives later, with the little water trough still inside the fence.
