The Blue Ring

Ages 6-9

Meilech presses the star stamp into blue ink.

On his paper, only two points show.

Beside him, his friend prints a whole star.

"Press harder," his friend says.

Meilech presses. Two points show again, darker this time.

He pushes the paper away.

Beside the ink pad, a clean circle stamp lies unused.

Meilech picks it up.

His friend holds another star above the row.

"Are you doing stars?"

Meilech tests the circle on a scrap. A whole blue ring appears.

"This one."

His friend prints a star beside the ring. Meilech puts a circle beside the star.

The next star lands a little higher. Meilech leaves a small space and adds his circle below it.

Their short row has two faint star points at its beginning. After them, whole stars and plain circles run beside each other.

Meilech sets the circle stamp on its side beside the ink pad. The last blue ring stays complete at the end of the row.
