The Blue Face

Ages 6-9

Noga puts her red piece at the start of the little game board. Merav puts her blue piece beside it.

Noga slides her piece toward the first space.

"Me."

Merav slides hers beside it.

"Me."

Both pieces stop just beyond the starting mark.

Noga takes a counter from the box. One face is red. The other is blue.

She stands it on its edge between them and holds it with one fingertip.

Merav flicks the edge. Noga lifts her finger.

The counter wobbles, then lies flat with its blue face up.

Noga looks at the counter. Merav looks at her blue piece.

Noga draws her red piece back to the starting mark.

Merav moves her blue piece into the first space.

Merav's piece sits one space ahead. Noga's piece stays at the start. Between them, the counter lies flat.
