Quiet Lions
Ages 6-9
Kalman's friend makes loud animal noises in their pretend zoo.
At the lion cage, he roars.
Kalman moves the paper visitor farther away.
His friend follows it with another roar.
Kalman puts down the visitor.
"Quiet lions for my turn."
His friend opens his mouth, then closes it.
Kalman moves the visitor to the next paper cage. His friend lifts the lion behind the wall without roaring.
Kalman brings the visitor closer. It looks through the little square opening.
His friend taps one paper paw against the inside wall.
Kalman moves the visitor past the cage and toward the pretend gate.
At the gate, he puts it down.
"Your visitor now."
His friend picks up the paper figure. Kalman takes the lion.
He holds it behind the wall while his friend begins the next visit. The paper paw shows through the square opening.
