Open Together

Ages 6-9

Rivi's friend begins their pretend shop before Rivi finishes the sign.

The friend puts three empty boxes on the rug.

"You're the customer."

Rivi holds the sign against her knees. She wants to be the person who opens the shop.

"I made this."

"Then put it up."

Rivi sets the sign beside the boxes. Her friend arranges them in a row.

Rivi walks toward the pretend doorway, then stops.

"Can I open it with you before I buy something?"

Her friend looks at the boxes.

"You can do the sign. I'll do these."

Rivi puts the sign above their pretend door. One corner folds down. She smooths it and rests it against the wall.

Her friend stands beside the boxes.

Rivi steps outside the doorway and comes back in as the customer. The sign stays above the door.
