One at a Time

Ages 6-9

Mena's friend gives her three directions for the pretend post office.

"The red letter goes there, the blue one goes here, and the little box stays-"

Mena puts the red letter beside the little box.

Her friend stops.

"Not that one."

Mena picks up the red one again.

"One at a time."

Her friend points to the pretend mailbox.

"Red letter in there."

Mena pushes it through the slot.

Her friend points to the little box.

"Blue letter beside it."

Mena puts the blue letter there.

Now her friend lifts the little box and gives it to Mena.

Mena carries it to the pretend shop on the rug.
