On the Circle's Edge
Ages 6-9
Ofra puts a round paper circle on the floor. It is the size of a plate.
She and her friend sit a few steps away with a small ball each.
Ofra rolls her ball toward the circle.
It stops before the edge.
Her friend rolls next. Her ball crosses the edge and stops inside.
Ofra gets up. She reaches for her own ball, then stretches toward her friend's.
She leaves her own ball on the floor.
She touches the ball in the circle with one fingertip.
Ofra smiles at her friend.
She picks up only her own ball and returns to her place.
Her friend's ball stays on the circle.
Ofra sets her ball on the floor. She gives it a slightly bigger push.
It rolls toward the paper.
Ofra's ball stops on the circle's edge, beside her friend's ball inside.
