Before You Tell

Ages 6-9

Yitty follows a line from a cat to a basket.

"The basket," her friend says.

Yitty puts down her pencil.

At the next puzzle, three folded paper houses have different windows. Yitty looks from one to another.

Her friend points to the middle house.

"Let me try before you tell."

Her friend puts her pointing finger on her own knee.

Yitty checks the first window. Then the second. The third has the same little cross as the sample.

She writes its number.

Her friend leans closer.

"That one?"

Yitty turns the puzzle toward her. Her friend checks the windows without saying the answer.
